Easy Homemade Biscuits

Yum
As a Good Cook Kitchen Expert, this is a sponsored post by the folks at Good Cook

I can cook, but baking does not come as easily to me. Although, now I have many scratch cakes and muffins under my belt, I am still the queen of doctoring up a cake box recipe or using store bought ingredients to make fun and festive desserts.  Well, I made homemade scratch biscuits for the first time today.  We had a ton of snow come down and these biscuits hot out of the oven with butter and jam were a perfect treat to warm my family up.

Since I still am a baking bread novice,  I envy all the fresh breads the  great bread bakers around me are constantly pulling out of their ovens.   One such bread maker, Donna Currie from Cookistry.  She wrote a book that I am so excited to read called  Make Ahead Bread Recipes Bake It When You Want It.  I definitely need this book to help me navigate the world of bread making.   The book is currently available in November 2014 but you can a pre-order it on Amazon.

The folks over at Good Cook are excited to offer a free loaf pan for anyone who pre-orders this book.  See all the details below.

Recipe from Food.com Biscuit Recipe Link

Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
3 tsp baking powder
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt  (I thought the biscuits were a little salty so I would prefer 1/2 tsp)
1/3 cup oil
2/3 cup milk

Directions:
Sift all dry ingredients into a bowl.  Pour milk and oil into bowl and stir gently until forms.  Place dough onto a floured surface and knead until it forms a bowl. Roll out with rolling pin gently to a 1/2 inch thickness.  Cut with biscuit cutter.  Place on a parchment paper and bake in a 475 degree oven for 10-12 minutes.  Serve hot.  Enjoy.
