Thank you ladies!!! You have amazing blogs and I am very honored to receive this award from all of you.

Now onto the Free for All part of this blog post....
The rules of the award is that I must pass this award to 15 bloggers.  So at 15 bloggers per award, I am looking at 75 folks I would need to pass it on to.  That would literally take me all day to link and advise each person and it's Monday so I'm still not fully functioning for the week yet.   To tell you the truth, I think EVERY Food blog I have been to since I started this crazy "food blogger life" deserves to be honored. Everyone has amazing food blogs, recipes and styles!  So I think we ALL are Versatile Bloggers!!

I decided this was my one opportunity in my life to act like Oprah Winfrey (remember her famous "you get a car and you get a car" show).   Well I'm giving every blogger that drops by my blog today an award!!  So you get an award... and you get an award.    Yes.. I am probably breaking all the rules of this wonderful award, but sometimes rules are meant to be broken if it's for the sake of doing something good. I know there are so many of you out there that deserve this award and  that I have missed you in the past so I am here to make amends.  If I have honored you with this award already in the past, feel free to take another one... why... YOU DESERVE IT!  I only ask one thing from everyone that wants to accept an award today... please leave me a comment in this post with your blog link so everyone knows who you are and follow the rules when you pass on the award... I don't want to start a riot with this award.

Here are the rules of the award:

  1. Thank the person who gave you this award.
  2. Include a link to their blog.
  3. Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly.
  4. Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award.
  5. Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.
  6. In the same post, include this set of rules.
  7. Inform each nominated blogger of their nomination by posting a comment on each of their blogs.

Now onto the 7 little known facts... Heck... most of you all know more about me from my confessions here on the blog...  but here goes some more. :)

1.  I love a good deal. If I see a buy one get free or a clearance sale -- I'm there!

2.  I love crime dramas on TV (ie..Law and Order SVU, Criminal Minds, The Mentalist and Castle)

3.  I was addicted to my soap opera ALL MY CHILDREN (cancelled in 2011) since high school.  I watched it for over 25 years and hardly missed an episode thanks to my VCR.  Yes... true!

4. I like to do more than watch TV (after reading 2 and 3 you may not believe me).  I actually love to read, cook (obviously) and scrapbook.

5.  I am allergic to cut grass... my husband thinks it's a way to get out of doing yard work. :)

6.  I thought motherhood would be easy for me because I love children.  In reality it's harder and more challenging than I ever thought.  I still love it though and would not change a day. :)

7.  I an not a sports fan... nor did I ever play any sports growing up.  I married a sports maniac....that makes me believe that God has a sense of humor!

So please take a Versatile Blogger award if you are a Food Blogger!! Please tell me about yourself if you are coming to my blog for the first  in the comments so I can visit your blog!  Thanks everyone and keep those fabulous blogs going!  ~  Ramona

PS... This free blog award is only good through 11:59PM April 18th 2012.  Thanks! :)

Sweet Potato Pie Recipe for Electrolux Comfort Foods Program

Yum
So here is my selection for my a wonderful comfort food, PIESweet Potato Pie to be exact. I am not a pie baker, nor am I a fan of these traditional Thanksgiving pies. So I was skeptical when my husband asked my mother-in-law for her recipe.  But this pie truly made me a sweet potato pie convert.  I really loved it.  The pie was sweet, without being overly sweet.  It had a nice cinnamon flavor without being overly full of spiced flavors like some pies.   Best of all it was creamy, delicious and easy to make.  So take this from a formally new to pie baking girl, you won't be disappointed making this pie for your Thanksgiving holidays or any day of the year.

Ingredients (for two 9 inch pies):
3lbs of sweet potatoes
4 large eggs
1/3 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar ( I actually used Splenda a sugar substitute)
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup milk
2 frozen store bought pie crusts
Directions:
Peel the sweet potatoes then boil them until they are tender.   Once cooled, smash the sweet potatoes well.  In a separate bowl add the eggs, butter, sugar, vanilla,  cinnamon and milk
Add the sweet potatoes and beat with the mixer again until the filling is smooth.

Note
: some of the fibers from the sweet potato will get stuck on the beater, discard the fibers and don't add back into the filling.
Then fill your frozen pie shell or a homemade pie crust with the sweet potato filling  and dust with a little more cinnamon.

Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. After one hour test with a knife to make sure it comes out clean. Let pie cool.

Serve with whip cream. Enjoy!

Versatile Blogger Awards and my lack of a clue...

Yum

Last night my Food-Blogger buddy Sandra from Sweet Sensations  honored me by sharing the Versatile Blogger Award with me.  As I was reading her post and thanking her it dawned on me that I made a big mistake earlier this month.  A few weeks back my Food-Blogger buddy Anne of From My Sweet Heart shared the Versatile Blogger Award to me and I was very happy to receive it, but totally clueless!  I didn't realize that I was to pass it on as well.  Can we all say a big resounding "DUH?"!!  So here I am very humbly trying to make up for my mistake and make amends.

First of all I have to tell you that Sandra and Anne are both wonderful Food-Blogger buddies.  They have been  very supportive and encouraging of my blog.  It is the support I get from my foodie friends that makes me keep plugging away at this blog and not just think I'm talking to myself and asking... "is anyone listening".  These two women are both very sweet, especially since they both are Dessert and Baking Gurus.  Most of you know, I am the self professed box cake and no bake dessert queen. But after seeing the baking chops of these two sweet ladies, it has given me the drive to overcome my baking fears.   So, thank you Sandra and Anne for sharing the Versatile Blogger award with me...it means so much!

So now that I finally got a CLUE, I shall honor the acceptance of the award by sharing 7 things about me and  passing the award on to 15 new or newly discovered blogs.  Here are my 7 things you may not know about me.

1.  I love to travel.  I have too many places on my bucket list to list every place I want to go.  But if I won a lottery I would be packing by bags tomorrow.

2. I cannot go on boats (with the exception of Huge Cruise-liners) without getting sea-sick.  I couldn't even go snorkeling on my honeymoon because I was so queasy from the boat ride out to the snorkeling spot....not very romantic.

3.  If I had a super power, I would love to travel from one place to another with a blink of an eye.  Yes, I watched too much Bewitched and I Dream of Jeanie growing up.

4.  My favorite childhood actress/singer is........ Doris Day.  I know you didn't think that on would come up. My mother loved Doris Day movies (especially the ones with Rock Hudson).  I used to watch them with her and I became a little obsessed.  I loved her songs so much. that I know most of them by heart.  I mean, who could say they don't like "Que Sera, Sera"

5.  I have watched All My Children (an American Soap Opera) for almost 25 years.  Yes, I would love to say I was in diapers when I started watching it, but I was actually a teen.

6. My favorite flower is Sunflowers.  I love how cheery and happy they are.  You cannot feel sad when you see one.  My kitchen is sunny yellow and I have a sunflower theme.

7. Growing up I didn't like desserts.  I always said no thanks when there was birthday cake, ice cream, etc....  But now I am a sweet-aholic.  It should have worked in the reverse because my metabolism was a lot better when I was a kid.

Next I would like share this award with....

I wish I could share this award with every foodie that has come to Curry and Comfort and given me words of support.  It is hard to pick only 15, but here goes.
