Popcorn Treats

Yum
My friends at Good Cook  put out the call for their Kitchen Experts to create a popcorn treat with Jolly Time popcorn and one of Good Cook's popcorn shaping molds.  I worked with the cube shape here and created two fun projects.  The kids loved working on the train with me and the birthday cake was made for my little princess' upcoming birthday.  Can you guess her favorite color?   The popcorn shaping molds are so fun to work with because they molded the popcorn perfectly without my bare hands having to touch the hot popcorn/marshmallow mixture.  The kids loved helping create our "masterpieces".  I can't wait to play/ create more fun popcorn creations.. so keep a look out for more to come your way.

 Ingredients:
12 cups Air popped Corn (free of any unpopped kernels)
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 (10oz) bag marshmallows
food coloring (optional)

For Birthday cake:
white frosting (homemade or store-bought)
sprinkles
birthday candle

For Train:
mini oreo cookies for wheels
white frosting (homemade or store-bought) this is the glue that keeps everything in place
gum drops or any colorful candy
pretzel sticks for train tracks.

Directions:

Air pop corn.  Make sure to remove any unpopped kernels.

In a saucepan melt butter/margarine and marshmallows.  If you want to dye your popcorn candy-- add food coloring to desired color now.  Once marshmallows are completely melted pour over popped corn.

Toss well and coat all popcorn.  Work quickly to fill your popcorn shaper.  Tip: remember to spray your shaper with cooking spray so it does not let candied popcorn stick.   Unmold.  Decorate as desired.  Enjoy.
