1. I made a very cool coffee house drink at home for pennies.
2. I made froth at home without any special equipment and made this drink really look like I bought it at a coffee house.
PS... don't want a hot drink.... allow the drink to cool down in the fridge. Place drink with a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream in the blender and zap. Voila, now you have a pumpkin pie spiced chai latte milkshake. That's how my kids enjoyed it. :) ( no foam needed for this preparation)

1 1/2 cups of milk (any kind)
1 bag of black tea
1 heaping Tbs pumpkin puree
1 cinnamon stick
2-4 green cardamom pods
2-4 cloves
grated fresh nutmeg ( 10 scrapes)
sweetener of choice (sugar, agave, maple syrup, splenda)

Directions:

Then turn off heat and steep tea bag for 2-3 minutes (or longer depending how strong you want the tea flavor). Strain into coffee mug and drink while hot. Enjoy.
How to make foam at home (without frother or machine):
Supplies: microwave safe container with tight fitting lid.
Place 1/4 cup of milk in container and shake for 45 seconds or longer until froth forms. Take lid off and place in microwave so the froth floats to the top. Use a spoon to skim the froth off the milk and place it on your latte.

ReplyDeleteGabbi will be thrilled to have this. Last year as part of the TasteMakers program with FoodBuzz I had the chance to sample Godiva's Pumpkin Spice Coffee and it was fantastic. I made Gabbi a little girl coffee drink and she loved it. Thanks for sharing this.
