Cooking dinner in the slow cooker is perfect on a cold winters day. You have a hot piping dinner ready while you snuggle under the covers and watch TV...now that's what I call easy cooking. These smothered pork chops are perfect with some mashed potatoes. The pork is juicy and tender and can be cut simply with a fork. I highly recommend taking the extra time to brown the chops and the mushrooms. So, when you are craving some comfort food and want to sit back and relax, grab your slow cooker and smother some pork chops.
Ingredients:

2-3lbs of bone-in or boneless pork chops
1/2 cup seasoned flour (flour mixed with salt and black pepper)
1 large onion sliced or chopped
1 cup of sliced or chopped mild peppers (bell, cubanelle etc..)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can of water (use soup can)
1/2 lb sliced mushrooms
1 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp granulated garlic
red chili flakes to taste
black pepper
salt
Directions:

Mix flour with salt and pepper to prepare seasoned flour. Dredge pork in flour and brown in some canola oil. Place browned pork in slow cooker. Saute mushrooms in pan to brown after pork. Add mushrooms into slow cooker.

Add all remaining ingredients. Cook on high for 4-5 hours. Taste for seasoning in last hour of cooking. Serve with mashed potatoes and vegetable. Enjoy.

That's it. I'm moving in. That looks delicious, Ramona. I'm with you on pre-browning the meat before putting it in the slow cooker. It's the only way to go. :)

just a quick question it seems quite a long time on high for 5 hours are you sure it wouldn't be cooking on low setting
ReplyDeleteMost slow cookers/crockpots take 4-5 hours for meat on high and 7-8 hours for meat on low. If you have one that cooks faster, you can check at 21/2 hours and see how tender the meat is and go from there. Hope you enjoy. :)
DeleteI LOVE PORK CHOPS & I LOVE USING MY SLOW COOKER. I AM MAKING THESE AS SOON AS I GET THE PORK CHOPS.
