Chocolate Oreo Truffles

Yum
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.  Well, I'm down right copying some very creative food bloggers that I have seen  make variations of these Chocolate Oreo Truffles.  The ingredients are so easy that I didn't even write down the recipe, I just made a mental note "must try these".  These decadent and rich truffles are a perfect ending to a heavy meal.  Why, because eating one gives you a lovely jolt of sweetness that will settle any sugar craving.

Ingredients:
32-36 Oreo cookies. (Do not used double stuffed Oreos)
8oz brick of plain cream cheese
1 cup of chocolate
2 Tbs of milk or light cream
Sprinkles, nuts, coconut  as garnishes (optional)

Directions:  Crumble the Oreos in the food processor until they are like sand.  Then add your cream cheese and pulse until everything is fully incorporated.  I chilled my oreo/cream cheese mixture in the fridge for an hour before going on to the next step.

Take out the mixture and form into little balls with your hands and place on a piece of parchment paper.  I suggest you chill in the fridge again for 30 minutes to 1 hour before dipping them.    Next melt your chocolate with the 2 Tbs of milk/cream to form a chocolate sauce. I melted the chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds.  Careful not to burn the chocolate.

Dip each oreo ball into the chocolate sauce and cover completely.  You can leave them to dry on the parchment paper or you can dip them into sprinkles, nuts, shredded coconut etc... as a garnish.  Allow them to chill in the fridge for 1 hour before serving.  Store in the fridge.

I think these decadent Chocolate Oreo Truffles go perfectly with some fresh strawberries.  Enjoy.
