To start, heat a pan with 1Tbs of oil on med-high heat and then add:
- 1 medium onion diced
- 2 serrano chilies seeded and diced
- 1 carrot grated
- 1 Tbs of grated ginger
- 3 cloves of garlic grated
Now add the dry spices:
- 1 tsp of garam masala
- 1/2 tsp of ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp of turmeric
- salt as desired
Once the masala mixture has cooled down add it to:
- 2lbs of your favorite ground meat. I used ground chicken.
- 2 Tbs of plain yogurt
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Fry burgers on a griddle or skillet until cooked through.
The Yogurt-Mint Sauce:
1 cup plain yogurt
1 small handful of minted chopped
1/2 tsp of ground cumin
juice of half a lime or full lime if it's not too juicy
salt to taste
Stir well and allow to chill for a few minutes before serving.
Makes 8-10 burgers. Garnish with thick sliced cucumbers and the yogurt sauce on a bun or inside a pita. Serve with a salad or fresh vegetables. Enjoy.
