Mango Lassi (Mango Smoothie)- Throwback Thursday

Yum
2011 photo

Mango Lassi is a rich and thick yogurt based drink that originates from India and Pakistan.  It is sweet, refreshing and cooling.  My kids love it as a breakfast smoothie.  I recommend freezing some of your mango chunks so you can chill the drink down without having to add additional ice.

Ingredients:
3 large mangoes (about 3 cups cut and cleaned mango)
2 cups of Plain yogurt (low-fat or full fat)
1 cup almond
1 cup mango puree or nectar
1/8 teaspoon cardamom powder
juice of half a lime
2 Tbs sugar or favorite sweetener like agave syrup, honey or splenda (or to taste)

 Directions:
Clean mango and dice into large chunks.  Add all ingredients above into blender and blend until smooth.  Taste for sweetness and  adjust as needed.

Chill in fridge or serve with ice.   Enjoy.

  2. Oh, I love it, I love it. I've always wanted to try a mango lassi because I heard it's also good at calming down the spicy after effects of spicy food. This looks so easy to make! Thanks for sharing :-)

  5. Love mango, and I love making smoothies. Now I just have to find an indian store to find some mango pulp...hmmm. Love the addition of the cardamom. One of my favorite spices!
