Sri Lanka (formerly known as Ceylon) produces some of the best quality teas in the world. Although this country is small it is the 4th largest producer of tea worldwide. I was given a chance to try the Aura brand of Ceylon Teas by
Almar Teas. Aura Teas come in a wonderful array of flavors from lemon, mint, strawberry, green and of course your traditional black tea. I loved all the flavors and I was excited to try to

make a recipe with the Strawberry tea. I decided to pair this beautifully fragrant strawberry tea with peaches. Now peaches are still not in season here in the US so I bought frozen peaches for my recipe. The frozen peaches actually worked great because I used them as the ice cubes in my smoothie as well. I blended this refreshing drink and enjoyed it knowing I was enjoying a smoothie that was full of antioxidants and health benefits.
Ingredients:
3 bags of Strawberry Aura Tea
2 cups of boiling water
1 cup of cool/ice water
2 cups of frozen sliced and skinned peaches
sweetener of your choice to taste (sugar, splenda, honey, or agave- I used agave)
Directions:
Boil 2 cups of tea and steep three tea bags for 3-5 minutes. Then add 1 cup of ice water to cool the tea down. Place tea, peaches and sweetener into blender. Blend until smooth. Makes 3-4 servings. Enjoy.

Yum! This sounds like a cool refreshing drink for summer. This would be great as a replacement for ice coffee in the morning with caffeinated tea!! Like breakfast and caffeine in one. Hope you're having a great week so far :) P.S. The mortar and pestle: http://www.amazon.com/Stone-Granite-Mortar-Pestle-capacity/dp/B000163N6G

ReplyDeleteWow wow wow this smoothie sounds delicious! I like Ceylon tea and had quite often when I was in Japan... I just realized that I haven't really paid attention too much on what kind of teas after I came to the US... Kind of weird. Never tried strawberry tea, but I can imagine the fragrance. Hmmm sounds nice!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a really delicious smoothie! I do drink enjoy flavored Ceylon teas as the flavors are very subtle. My favorites are the ones that come in a small wooden crate with certification from the Ceylon Tea Board. The mango and strawberry flavors are really nice.
ReplyDeleteFruity and yummy, I gotta try this one. Love the photo with the garnish.
ReplyDelete"Ramona does the Aura Ceylon tea that is Strawberry flavored have ANY caffeine in it? Caffeine does not agree with me, do you have an suggestions for ANY caffeine free blends of tea?"
ReplyDeleteI don't believe they are caffeine free, but here is their website: http://www.almarteas.com/Strawberry-tea.html
DeleteI do know Lipton has decaffeinated teas available, but none that are strawberry flavored to my knowledge.
