Candy Cane Milkshake

Yum
Let the Christmas Countdown begin!  Christmas day is only a few weeks away and I'm just as excited as my young kids. It's not the visit from Santa that I'm awaiting so excitedly, but all the yummy treats and parties that we are going to enjoy.   I wanted to start off the week with something very fun and festive, my Candy Cane Milkshake.   My husband and kids went a little crazy over it so I hope you try it and enjoy it too.  It's a great way to use up some of those candy canes... so start smashing them and enjoy!

PS.. Santa may enjoy a milkshake as well...  :)  HO!HO!HO!

Ingredients:
7-8 scoops of ice cream
1/4 cup of crushed candy canes
1/2 cup of water
1/2 cup of milk
1/2 tsp of mint extract (optional)
whip cream
crushed candy canes for garnish

Directions:
In a small saucepan heat your 1/2 cup of water and crushed candy canes.  Allow to boil until the candy canes are fully melted.  This should take a few minutes.  Then allow the "candy cane simple syrup" to cool down.

In a blender add your ice cream, milk, candy cane simple syrup, mint extract and a 2 tsp of crushed candy canes.  Blend well until smooth.  Pour into a glass, top with whip cream and more crushed candy canes. Enjoy.
