The new school year has started and I'm back to packing lunchboxes. I cook a lot, but sometimes I get totally overwhelmed when it comes to packing a lunchbox meal. I want to pack something healthy, but it has to be fun and tasty too. It also has to travel well and look tempting to both my (sometimes) picky eaters. I decided to get some help so I went online and checked out FoodNetwork.com for some tips and lunchbox ideas. They had a bunch, but today I went with these fabulous Roasted Turkey and Basil Cream Cheese Pinwheel Sandwiches. They were a cinch to put together and they were healthy, tasty and got a big thumbs up from both the kids.
So if you're looking for some lunchbox ideas, head over to FoodNetwork.com. You won't be disappointed. Here are some more great ideas from FoodNetwork.com:

Here are some tips I also used to keep things neat and easy for the kids. I used paper cupcake liners to keep the pinwheels in place. Make sure you to tell your kids to remove the toothpick before they eat them. Remember to place an ice pack in their lunchbox to keep all the food cool and fresh. Also avoid packing a boring and plain looking meal with pre-packaged items that usually lack any nutritional value. Pack a colorful work of art so your kids can get excited opening up their lunchbox to see a rainbow of food waiting for them to enjoy. Here's to happy lunchbox packing parents!

Terrific for the kids, but also wonderful for mom's lunch at home :)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't complain so much about eating salad if I got pinwheel wraps of heaven! :D

Pinwheel sandwiches are so fun and I bet they handle being in a lunchbox rather well. :D These are so pretty, Ramona!
ReplyDeleteThese look great for lunches at any age! These also look like a great, healthy way to use tortillas - whenever I have leftover tortillas, I usually succumb to making cheese-laden quesadillas, but this looks like a much better option.
ReplyDeleteYou can pack a lunch for me anytime.
ReplyDeleteI love to cook, so I'll definitely take these recipes for myself. By the way, I recently found a very cool option for traveling. Now you can find different food tours here to try the local cuisine and visit different cool cafes. I like such events during which I get new experience and try to take some interesting ideas.
