My son loves Sloppy Joe sandwiches so I thought about taking it to the next level and topping a pizza with it instead. Saying this was a big hit, is an understatement. He loved this pizza and so did my husband and I. Now my young daughter has decided that she wants does not want to eat meat on her pizza, so stick around this week when I show you the 2nd pizza I came with to appease her vegetarian senses.
Ingredients:
- Store bought baked pizza crust (try Boboli). Note **If you do not have these available to you, pre-bake 3/4 of the way a traditional pizza dough and then top with filling.
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1lb of ground lean meat (I used chicken... pork, beef, turkey can be substituted)
1/2 cup of onion chopped
1/2 cup of diced green bell pepper
1-2 cloves of grated garlic
red chili flakes to taste
seasoning salt and black pepper to taste
Ingredients for the sloppy sauce
8oz can of plain tomato sauce
1Tbs of paprika
1 Tbs of sriracha (if you like it spicy)
1Tbs of Worcestershire sauce
1/2 Tbs of vinegar
2-3 Tbs of brown sugar (sloppy joe's are sweet and tangy so it depends on how sweet you want it)
Directions:
Start browning the ground meat then add garlic, onion, green bell peppers, seasoning salt, black pepper. Then add your ingredients

ReplyDeletesuper tempting and inviting
ReplyDeleteGenius. One of the reasons I don't like making regular sloppy joes is because they're, well, sloppy. I can't stand it when the filling spills all over when I take a bite. Putting it on a pizza is absolutely fantastic. You rock.
