Cherry Cobbler in the Slow Cooker

Yum
Can you believe this fantastic looking Cherry Cobbler came out of the crock-pot and was made with only three ingredients?   My husband and kids went crazy for this warm and bubbly dessert with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream.  This easy and delicious dessert cooks in 3 hours so the next time I have friends over for dinner, I am going to turn this dessert on in the crock-pot just before guest arrive so it will be hot and perfect by dessert time.

I've teamed up with some of my friends to bring you a great list of slow cooker dessert recipes today!  There are 10 scrumptious recipes to check out today.  If you love slow cooker dishes then check out #crocktoberfest2013 on facebook, twitter, and instagram to find all the other recipes that were shared this week.

Ingredients:
1 box yellow cake mix
1 stick unsalted butter
2 cans cherry pie filling

Recipe Source: Kraft Community Recipes

Directions:

Spray crock-pot with cooking spray.  Pour the two cans of cherry pie filling on the bottom.  Sprinkle dry cake mix next and spread evenly.

Melt stick of butter in microwave (do not burn).  Pour the melted butter evenly over cake mix.  Cook on low setting for 3 hours .  Serve hot or warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped topping.  Enjoy.

    1. Yes, store in an airtight container in the fridge. When you use it again, reheat in the microwave for a bit to warm through.

  12. I made this with the limited edition of the Strawberry Rhubarb pie filling from Walmart and used the Duncan Hines French vanilla cake mix. House smelled so good I wanted to eat the couch before the cake was done. LOL. It was delicious.

  13. This looks wonderful. But I have a quick question. Do you cook this with the lid on or off?
    Thanks,

  15. Ramona, will adding dry oats or pecans change how the cobbler turns out in the end?

    1. Are you asking instead of using the cake or on top of the cake mix? Adding pecans should be fine... but the dry oats will not work because the cake needs all the moisture added in the crock-pot to cook through. I don't really know how oats by themselves would work in the crockpot... they would get all mushy and not "baked" like a regular cobbler. That being say... having fun in the kitchen is all about experimenting. So if you try it out... let me know. :)
