1970's Disco and Fondue Party

Yum

The Foodbuzz 24x24 Food Event showcases 24 food blogger parties during a 24-hour period. I was thrilled to be featured this month!

Take a journey with me back to a decade that loved disco, fondue, bell-bottoms, Star Wars,  Six Million Dollar Man,  pet rocks and avocado green appliances.  That's right; we're taking a ride back to the 1970's!

The 1970's spanned my childhood and some of my best memories were made during that crazy decade.  I loved  disco, my Dorothy Hamil haircut, my Slinky, drinking Tang for breakfast and watching Laverne and Shirley, Happy Days, Wonder Woman and Donnie and Marie on TV. Don't judge me....I was a kid!  : )

I wanted to reminisce about the good old days and show the kids in our family what great fun we had during a time when the fashions were loud and wild, but it was cool to say "groovy" and watch "The Brady Bunch".  So I thought what better way to showcase the 1970's than with a Disco and Fondue Party.

Everyone loved the food, especially the Cheese Fondue and the Chocolate Fondue.  Yes, that's right we were "fun-doing with fondue".  We also enjoyed a few other popular 70's dishes like "I am not a Crook" Watergate Salad, Grape Jelly Meatballs and my favorite KC and the Sunshine Band Sherbet Punch.

I pulled out some popular 1970's games like Twister and Monopoly to show the kids what we did before video games, iPods and iPhones.  The kids were a little reluctant at first because these games were simple and not high tech .  In the end, the games won the kids over because they are so much fun to play.

Once the games started, the competition was high.  Everyone was laughing up a storm and that's a wonderful thing when you have a party with ages ranging from 5 to 80.  I think these wonderful games that have withstood the test of time will definitely make an appearance at other family parties.
Now on to the Food....
