Chocolate Dipped Rice Krispies Treats

Yum

After making the Samoa Rice Krispies Treats my kids were clamoring for me to make another dipped rice krispies treat.   So I dipped these and then garnished them with their favorite toppings of M&Ms, chopped peanuts, and sprinkles.  My house had two happy kids and one happy hubby when I pulled out this platter of treats.

Ingredients and Directions:

For Rice Krispies Layer:
6 1/2 cups rice cereal
10oz bag of mini marshmallows (divided)
4-5 Tbs butter or margarine

On medium low heat, melt butter and  marshmallows.  Once fully melted add the rice krispies cereal and mix well.  Pour mixture into a buttered baking dish and press down.   Allow rice krispies to set for 1 hour before dipping.  Then cut into desired squares.

Tip:  I used wax paper over the mixture so I could press down the with my hands.  In a large pan on medium heat.

For Chocolate Dip:
12oz bag chocolate chips
1/4 cup milk
In a double boiler (heat proof bowl over pan with water) melt chocolate and milk.

Once fully melted and smooth dip the bottom of rice krispies squares into chocolate. Place upside down on wax or parchment paper.

Toppings:
Any chopped candy bar, M&Ms, nuts, sprinkles, coconut etc...
Once the rice krispie is dipped, top with favorite topping before chocolate sets.  Allow chocolate to set before serving. Enjoy.
