After a long cold miserable winter... spring has finally sprung. We had an almost 70 degree weather day today and to celebrate I made these cheerful and cute chocolate, chocolate rice krispies treats. I loved playing with the Spring Silicone Bark and Chocolate Mold, 12 cups from the Good Cook Sweet Creations line. This silicone mold is so easy to work with and you use it in the fridge, oven and freezer. My kids are already to play with it all season long.
12oz bag white chocolate chips melted
food coloring as desired
12oz bag semisweet chocolate
1/4 cup milk
Rice Krispies Layer:
5 cups rice cereal
10oz bag of mini marshmallows
4-5Tbs butter or margarine
First melt white chocolate and divide into small bowls to color as desired. I used pink, blue and kept some plain white chocolate.
Pour white chocolate into mold and allow to chill in fridge for 10 minutes.
Next start melting semi-sweet chocolate with some milk to give a softer texture for the middle layer. Pour melted chocolate mixture into silicone mold and chill in fridge for 15 minutes.
While chocolate sets, prepare the rice krispies layer by melting butter and marshmallows in a pan on medium heat. Once fully melted add the rice krispies cereal and mix well. Press the hot/warm rice krispies mixture into a silicone mold and press gently so the chocolate adheres to the rice krispies. Allow to set for 30 minutes. Invert mold over onto a baking sheet. Cut according to designed squares. Enjoy.
